Arena Pernambuco, Recife, 26.06.2014
1-0 (0-0)
Müller 55. / –
Germany rounded off the group phase with a tough workout against a stubborn United States side in a wet and soggy Recife, a match that somehow managed to ahead in spite of the nasty floods in that region of Brazil. The match saw current German coach Joachim Löw up against his former boss Jürgen Klinsmann, and in that battle of the Nationaltrainers it was the apprentice that came out on top courtesy of Thomas Müller’s excellent second-half strike.
