Germany extended their unbeaten tun to 21 matches with a last-gasp draw at home to neighbours and reigning world champions France in Köln. In what a large evenly contested match, the home side twice went a goal down before substitute Lars Stindl was on the end of a well-worked move to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat in injury time.
A first-half goal from Alexandre Lacazette had put les Bleues in front, only for Timo Werner to level the scores three minutes short of the hour mark.
Lacazatte doubled his tally with just under twenty minutes remaining, and with the clock running down it looked as though the unbeaten run – stretching back to the semi-final defeat at the hands of the French at Euro 2016 – would come to an end, but Stindl’s near-post finish capped off a decent second half for Jogi Löw’s men.
