Right, I’ll give in and share it here. A friend of mine on Facebook pointed me in the direction of a site where the new Adidas design for the 2012-14 Germany shirts have been leaked… (Sorry, the link is now dead).
If these are the final designs, I quite like them. I am not overly keen on the three diagonal pinstripes on the white home shirt, but love the overlapping neck/collar detail that reminds me of the classic design that was sported at Euro ’84. What I am most enthused by however is the return of the green shirt – and not just any old green (petrol green, forest green, racing green, oilslick green, whatever) but the famous Lindengrün worn by the masters from 1972. It has the white round neck too, and is clearly going to be an instant cult classic. I do like the current black design, but there’s something about the green shirt. It just seems richtig.
Once again, Adidas have got it right – and long may its partnership with the DFB remain. It would be just so odd to even consider the Nationalmannschaft playing in some garish Nike design.
