We’re well into the group stage of the World Cup now, and already we have had a number of shocks. Holders Spain and former champions England are both already out, and Costa Rica have beaten Italy, a feat no German team has ever achieved in tournament play, let alone the World Cup.
Having trounced Portugal 4-0 in their opening group game the Nationalmannschaft would be brought back down to earth with a bump in Fortaleza against an energetic Ghana, though they would avoid the shock and surprise of defeat thanks to a man who has played a major role in their World Cup campaigns over the last twelve years – Miroslav Klose.
Today’s Trikot is the retro 2012 Lindengrün, one of my favourites. I have all of the Nationaltrikots from 1986 onwards, so if you want to see one in the next video, just drop a comment below or on the Facebook page!

It would seem to be great to have a solid starting 11….but would it really also be so bad to mix things up? It didn’t seem so in the last match. My only complaint is, why didn’t JLow do it sooner?
If Khedira comes out and plays like a beast for 60′ and Schweini comes out and turns the game on it’s head… could this not be construed as a great tactical card up one’s sleeve-especially with the bench that we have?
Who knows what the starting 11 will be?…who knows what what shape the deadly transformer machine that is Deutschland will become?
Love your blog(and video with guest appearance of the kitty) Chef…even though it still hurts my eyes!!!
Rick,
It’s time to bring out the 1994-96 “Chessboard” eye-explosion. Take one for the team, mate!
OK Travis, that’s one vote for the “Chessboard”. Weiß oder Grün?

Great shirt Chef! You don’t by any chance have the green (away) Trikot of the 1991 England game at Wembley? I was at the match when Kalle Riedle headed Thomas Doll’s cross into the England net. They wore it just the once – like the home shirt it consisted of the Schwarz, Rot, Gold colours. What I call the Three Lines on the shirt!
Ha! I had a feeling some smart Alec might come up with that suggestion.
Sadly this was a shirt that was never sold, and I was only able to get it into the Trikots section thanks to a collector in Poland who has a match-worn one.
I was at that match too – you can see where I was sitting by looking at the ticket in the Das Duell section. Great game, and I still have the live coverage I recorded on the fledgling Sky Sports as well.
“Three Lines on the shirt” – that is absolutely fantastic!
