It’s a little bit late, but here are the player ratings for last week’s match in Bremen from the folks at Kicker Online. As usual when there has been a poor team performance the scores vary wildly, with Kicker agreeing with both Bild’s and my own ratings in some areas and disagreeing in others.
I think Kicker have been a little harsh on Jérôme Boateng. I thought his overall performance – particularly where he kept Franck Ribéry in check during the first half – was fairly solid, and ceratinly not worth the same score as Dennis Aogo who had a particularly woeful match. Kicker’s score of 3.5 for Holger Badstuber is also slightly odd, given that the Bayern youngster was involved – with Aogo – in the defensive mess-up that resulted in the opening French goal.
Kicker’s best scores are reserved for ‘keeper Tim Wiese and striker Miro Klose, both of whom get a score of 3 – matching those given by Bild. On reflection I should have notched Klose’s score up a bit, but unlike both of the other reviewers Wiese was for me ahead of the rest for a solid performance that saw him make two excellent saves.
Apart from that the scores are fairly level across the board apart from those given to Toni Kroos, where it was clear that the Bild reviewer(s) were watching a different match. While my rating for Kroos was 5.5 and Kicker’s 4.5 (both marginally above poor on the six- and five-point scales respectively), Bild have given him a Note 3 – their joint-highest score along with Wiese and Klose.
