The day after the Austria match I posted my match overview where I touched on player ratings, highlighting three individuals: Mesut Özil, Thomas Müller and Mirosolav Klose. Today Kicker Online published its post-match analysis which includes player ratings, and guess which three players received the top mark? Yep, Özil, Müller and Klose.
From next month for each live game I watch I will post presenting my own ratings in the post-match report, if just to see how close I can get to the pundits and Kicker and Bild.
Here are my ratings for each player, using the same German 1-6 system, with 1 being the best score. Players who joined the play after the seventieth minutes are not rated:
Neuer (3.5) – Höwedes (2.5), Hummels (3), Badstuber (3), Lahm (3.5) – Schweinsteiger (2.5) – Kroos (2) – Müller (1), Özil (1), Podolski (2.5) – Klose (1). Subs: Boateng (2.5)
Here are Kicker’s ratings:
Neuer (3) – Höwedes (3), Hummels (3.5), Badstuber (3.5), Lahm (3,5) – Schweinsteiger (2) – Kroos (2,5) – Müller (1), Özil (1), Podolski (2) – Klose (1). Subs: Boateng (2)
And Bild’s:
Neuer (3) – Höwedes (3), Hummels (4), Badstuber (4), Lahm (3) – Schweinsteiger (3) – Kroos (2) – Müller (1), Özil (1), Podolski (2) – Klose (2). Subs: Boateng (3)
Given that the Poland game is not being shown live in the UK, I won’t be able to produce immediate an immediate match report and ratings – these will come a few days later as a Polish friend is sending me a DVD of the game recorded on Polish television.
