Welcome to Schwarz und Weiß, a website and blog dedicated the the Nationalmannschaft – the German national football team. Inspired in part by a rather obscure Bundesliga fanzine I read some years ago and my collection of post-1990 Germany shirts, my aim is for this site to become both an interesting historical archive chock-full of results, statistics and trivia but also a place where English-speaking fans of the Nationalelf can talk about the one-off classic green shirt that was worn during the 1-0 win at Wembley in 1991.
Following the successful campaign in South Africa, the German team have never been so popular – but the history I grew up with as a supporter is not only about Özil, Schweinsteiger and Thomas Müller but the likes of Kalle Rummenigge, Matthäus and Berthold.
